Rome's history spans more than two and a half thousand years. While Roman mythology dates the founding of Rome at only around 753 BC, the site has been inhabited for much longer, making it one of the oldest continuously occupied sites in Europe. The city's early population originated from a mix of Latins, Etruscans and Sabines. Eventually, the city successively became the capital of the Roman Kingdom, the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire, and is regarded as one of the birthplaces of Western civilization and by some as the first ever metropolis. After the fall of the Western Empire, which marked the beginning of the Middle Ages, Rome slowly fell under the political control of the Papacy, which had settled in the city since the 1st century AD, until in the 8th century it became the capital of the Papal States, which lasted until 1870.
Prati is a historic neighbourhood (rione) of Rome in the centre of the city, bordering with the north of the Vatican State, within Rome's Municipio I, Although it technically belongs to the rione Borgo, the Hadrian's mausoleum (the modern Castel Sant'Angelo) is one of Prati's landmark. In administrative terms, Prati since 1913 belongs to I Municipio (the City historic Center) while before that year together with the rione of Borgo and the quartieri Trionfale and Della Vittoria (around Piazza Mazzini) was part of the XVII Municipio. A solidly bourgeois district, Prati is one of the wealthiest neighbourhoods in Rome. Prati is immediately to the north of the historical city centre of the City ("centro storico"), and to the east and northeast of the Vatican. The busy Via Cola di Rienzo, one of the most famous streets in Rome, is consistently ranked among the most important shopping streets in the city.

What a great find! Candyahouse was recommended to me by a friend that lives in Rome. I have been to Rome a number of times and usually stay with family. This time I needed to be close to the convention center at the Vatican. When we walked into to the suite.. it really felt like being at home. Stefania was great through out the whole process ..her response time was amazing. She also helped us arrange reliable transportation to and from airport and to civitavecchia port. The suite is perfect ..it has 2 separate bedrooms and each have there own bathroom. The home comes with a kitchen and living area. Once you are on Candia street, you will find restaurants, coffee bars, pharmacy and you are steps to the metro and the area to which you can catch a cab. I also found a great market a couple blocks away, that sells everything from fresh veggies to wine. If you are thinking about staying in Rome this is a great location . The suite is clean and very spacious. I can’t wait to go back. Enjoy your stay. We sure did!!
A GREAT PLACE TO STAY! I almost missed staying here because it didn’t have any reviews (that’s why I am writing one). So happy I decided to take a chance. My grandmother and I had a wonderful time at CandyaHouse. Stefania was the best host I have ever had. She really goes above and beyond to make your trip as easy as possible and puts so much love into every detail in the house[….] I am VERY PICKY. I would stay at the CandyaHouse again and I recommend it to anyone who wants a 5-star experience that feels like both a hotel and home.
My friends and I were staying in Rome for 4 nights and accidentally booked our first Airbnb for only 3 nights. Stefania was amazing and let us stay for our last night at very very short notice. The house looks exactly like in the pictures. It is very clean and close to everything you need in Rome! Highly recommend staying here
